The fourth hole is challenging in that it is tightly contained by tree lines on both sides and is the second of three risk/reward holes on the front nine for forward tee players, but not so much for players teeing up from the tips. As you look down the fairway, you will sight a bunker that lies about 40 yards from the front of the green. From the tips, you may not see this bunker as the tee box is set back and to the left and tree foliage may block this view. Your play off the tee should be to put your drive in front of this bunker, setting up for a “simple” second shot to the green. If you are accurate enough off the tee, blast your tee shot a little right and a little past or even straight over the bunker and you will be rewarded with an easier shot to the green, albeit from moderate to heavy rough. Be aware that there is water out of sight long and right, and a tee shot too far right or left of the cart path will leave you struggling with tree limbs and thin lies.

 

Your second shot should reach the green on the fly as this green slopes gently from back to front and will collect your ball. Miss left, long, or right and you will have a difficult recovery shot from steeply sloping approaches or lateral hazards.
